Over the weekend, I traveled into Costa Rica for some roadside research. Here are some videos I took in the provinces of San José and Limón:

http://wwtl.info#cr-n4v.html (National Route 4 near Guápiles)
http://wwtl.info#cr-n32v.html (National Route 32 in northern San José province)

If you decide to brave the roads of Costa Rica, you'll specifically need to exercise great patience between SJ and the Caribbean. The roads through the rainforest are curvy, often wet, and packed w/ commercial freight causing average travel speeds to be in the 40 to 60 km/h range.
Also worth mention is Costa Rica's adoption of "KPH" as the official abbreviation for 'kilometres per hour':

Enjoy!
